About Us
June Hanson began Nordic Studio in 1983 in Canada. She imported Swedish Yarns for weavers.June has had booths at Conferences all over North America for over 20 years. In the summer of 2005 June decided it was time to retire and sell her business. In November Tracy Kaestner and June worked out the details and Tracy became the owner of Nordic Studio. In November 2005 Tracy flew to Ontario to help June pack up her remaining inventory, and now Nordic Studio is located in the sunny south!Nordic Studio is known for having a wide color selection of fine Swedish yarns and good customer service!Tracy intends to continue business for Nordic in the same tradition as it was run by June!If you haven’t woven with Swedish yarns you really must give them a try, the quality and colors are outstanding!

Lone Star Loom Room opened in August 2002 as a teaching studio for beginning weaving classes.Tracy had been teaching weaving through the Contemporary Handweavers of Houston at area Community centers, lugging looms and equipment around wasn’t much fun. The original studio was in a newly added 400 sq ft garage addition and seemed like more than enough space for Tracy’s looms and a few students. As time passed, the student numbers grew as did their needs. They needed yarn, space and equipment. In July of 2005 a new space was found just for LSLR (Tracy’s looms are still in the studio over the garage) in old town Katy.In March 2006 the LSLR moved again and then again in March 2007 to it’s current location at 5708 Third Street. The new location houses the ongoing weaving classes, has a classroom for dyeing and other classes and all of the stock for Nordic Studio. We are much happier in our new space! Classes are offered for beginning and intermediate weaving, warp painting, spinning and some classes are taught by guest teachers.
